If you find yourself in the thick of wedding planning, you know that there are a million decisions that must be meticulously thought out. Even the most organized bride might find herself overwhelmed with the endless parade of wedding details she must keep track of.
No matter how many lists you keep in your wedding planner, it seems inevitable that you might forget something. Especially on your big day, it's easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of excitement and neglect a thing or two.
With that in mind, here are some details that easily fall through the cracks. Check these off your list, and you'll be one step closer to happily ever after.
Take Care of Your Vendors
When planning your headcount for chairs and meals, don't forget your vendors. All of the people who will work hard to make your day perfect deserve to eat too! Often times the meal will be included in their contract, however, you should feed your vendors regardless.
Among the extra people you need to feed could be your photographer, musicians, videographer, wedding planner, and a variety of other helpers and assistants. You don't necessarily need to give them the same fare as your guests, but having your caterer prepare something extra ahead of time is a must.
Don't forget to tip your vendors, as well. In the shuffle of the wedding day, it's likely that you won't have the ability to take care of tips yourself. Designate someone such as the best man, day-of coordinator, or other responsible people who can identify vendors and pay gratuity out before the festivities end.
Assign a Gift Wrangler
Make sure you have a designated person who will transport your wedding gifts to a secure location at the end of the day. Whether you're making a grand exit or closing down the reception until the last dance, you'll be far too preoccupied to worry about loading up presents.
Decide ahead of time if you are opening gifts the next day with family and friends, and plan for the gifts to be delivered to the appropriate location. If you're having brunch the following morning at your parent's house, for example, it may be wise to assign them gift duties.
It may also be a good idea to have the gift wranglers check for forgotten personal items, as well. Don't leave anything behind!
Account for Postage
This small detail can blow your budget wide open with surprise fees. You may have your heart set on oversized square invitations but check with the post office before you commit. Heavy or odd-sized postage can often cost much more to mail.
You may find yourself with double the stationary costs if you don't take the price of mailing into consideration. The last thing you want is lost invites, or guests being charged for envelopes sent with incorrect postage.
Take a completed invitation sample to your local post office and have it priced. Factor this fee into your stationery costs to stay on-budget and make sure those invitations make it to their destination.
Plan for Inclement Weather
If your venue is outside, make sure you do your research. Check historical weather data for your date, and plan for the worst regardless. Avoid picking an outdoor venue during notoriously unpredictable seasons.
Leave room in the budget for extra tents and shelter options. Check with your potential venues to see what backup plans they have in case of rain or other weather inconveniences. Pack extra shoes, a few pretty umbrellas, and a cover-up for your dress in your emergency kit, just in case.
Designate Helpers For Wedding Details
If you're stressed about the big day, enlist friends or family to help you with your planning. Delegating tasks to your bridal party will help you focus on the wedding details you care most about and give you peace of mind that you don't have to go it alone.
